Thursday, April 27, 2006![]() Actually, Kitty and Zefram being best friends couldn't be further from the truth. They've learned to tolerate each other...kinda. Zefram still has some strange fascination with Kitty's tail that usually ends with more than a few bops on the nose for him. Kitty has crazy rapid fire paws. I love that you can almost see the mischievous thoughts going on in Zefram's head. ________________________ I guess my body went through some sort of shift last year because for the first time, I'm joining the ranks of allergy sufferers. Ugh. I go for a run every morning with Zefram and for the last couple weeks, I come home and sneeze for the rest of the morning. I started taking Zefram's allergy pills and they were helping but I couldn't figure out why I was so sleepy all the time. Until I read the bottle. Seriously, I couldn't keep my eyes open yesterday while sewing. Not a good idea when a sharp and fast needle is concerned. _______________________ Turns out that soy might be a trigger for migraines. Just wonderful. Monday, April 24, 2006![]() Another thrifty post...I bought this apron from my favorite thrift store (see previous post) and had every intention to make it into a bag. Ended up being to cute to cut up so it's been my favorite apron for a while now. I love aprons so much. The old ones are so sweet and cute that it's almost impossible for me not to buy them. You can see my two other favorites on my flickr page. _______________________________ Speaking of Flickr, does any one know of a Flickr trade group? I looked at the Use What You've Got swap section but I was looking for something a bit more "one on one" trading where people post pics of something they're willing to trade for something else. _______________________________ I'm sleepy. Friday, April 21, 2006![]() If thrift shopping is any indication, I think everyone in the past had really really small feet. I can never find vintage shoes in my size and I look fairly often. My size 8 feet have tried many a thrifted shoes on and these are one of a handful that fit. Aren't they fun?! ________________________ Chicago trip went well. Had such a wonderful time with my sister and her fiance. They took us to Mitsuwa (large Japanese grocery store) and a Japanese toy store. I'm an idiot and forgot to look for craft books while at Mitsuwa. :( Guess it's better that way since we had already spent $60 at the toy store! ________________________ What is it with the video production industry that requires them to have bars in their offices? Every single one of the houses he visited had at the very least a fully stocked bar. And we're not talking some small cart with a couple bottles on it. It was a full on bar with bar stools and rows of alcohol. Some had more, like dance floors and theaters. Seriously, every single one. We figured it had something to do with sucking up to the clients. Looked around at condos while we were up there. Nothing serious, just looking. The more I think about it the more I would definitely sacrifice space if we could be across the street from a park or something. It's so easy to have a dog in El Paso. If he needs to go out, I just open the door to the back yard. Easy peasy. I know we're going to have a hard time taking Zefram out if we're not near a open area. I'm considering sacrificing something to the real estate gods. ________________________ Had fun seeing stuff from indie shops everywhere! Saw plushies from My Paper Crane, Sidepony cards, sets by Paper Bride and Amy Peters' necklaces. There were a ton more that I can't seem to remember now. All that indie goodness made my head spin...in a good way! Wednesday, April 05, 2006![]() Now that we're moving, I thought it would be perfect timing to finally getting around to the window treatments for the kitchen. It's only taken me four years. Wish I would have done it sooner but at least I can enjoy the cuteness for another month or so. I found the linen tab curtains while thrifting with my mom on Friday. Five bucks, you can't beat that. The "valance" is made from two Isaac Mizrahi napkins from Target that I hemmed to fit the hanging rod. The table cloth is another little something I picked up at the thrift store. I'm becoming quite the little vintage tablecloth fanatic. If you look closely you can see part of our Pez collection, our Muppet toys and the beginning of my Tiny Plush collection. I only have three little plushies but it's something to work toward! _______________________ We had to book a last minute flight to Chicago for Jim to go and interview while I look for places to live in. Eep, scary and fun. _______________________ Check out Shop The Switchboards' Blog for fun indie stuff!
