Friday, June 30, 2006![]() The best part about making these pin cushions is positioning the straight pins so that it looks like he's wearing earrings. It really is the simple things in life. _________________________ We are now officially taking Credit Cards over at Gerbera Designs! Actually, we were taking them before but now you don't have to go through PayPal. If anyone was thinking about buying a cover or pin cushion, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd let me know how the cart works out. In fact, as a sign of our appreciation, contact me before you place your order and I'll give you a coupon code for 15% off. Everyone wins! _________________________ Shall we talk Movie Talk? Here's my over all views on the movies we've seen recently: Solaris: We had seen the George Clooney/Steven Soderbergh version a while ago and were pretty much underwhelmed. Maybe it was because of Clooney, maybe Soderbergh's hubris. In any event, the original 1972 version is wonderfully slow and intimate. Highly recommend. Superman Returns: At some point I was almost positive Superman's cleft chin was going to start talking to me. Not much more to say about this movie other than the best part being the original theme. Cars: We decided to see a second feature after Superman Returns (read: snuck into another movie). I guess there was a meeting of The Worst Parents in the World Club at the theater and we didn't know it. First of all, we were at a 10:30 showing of Cars. Means it wasn't going to end until around midnight. It was way past my bedtime and I'm 28 years old! Second, before the movie even started, a little boy asked his mom to take him to the bathroom. Guess it wasn't a high priority to her because the next thing I heard was the distinct sound of pissing in a cup right behind my head. Just great. And lastly, the people next to us insisted on talking about paying bills and cleaning their carpets the entire time. I was two seats over and still know which type of carpet cleaner they're going with. Seriously people, your 3 year old boy has better manners than you! Well, that said, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I'll let you know how An Inconvenient Truth was next week! Wednesday, June 21, 2006![]() Just added a new tutorial on how to make a Vinyl Cut-Out Pouch! I chose to use the image of a shoe as a template but you can pretty much use anything. The folks over at Stencil Revolution have some great tutorials on how to make stencils. It pretty much just depends on how patient and how good with an x-acto knife you are. And if you don't want to make one of your own, you can always buy one on Etsy! Thursday, June 15, 2006![]() I've been thinking about doing a set of Guest Artists iPod covers with all the profit going toward the cause of their choice. For example, one artist might have an image of a dog on the cover with sales from the cover going to ASPCA or rendering of the Earth benefiting a conservation cause. Of course, they would be much more creative than that! I've been wanting to collaborate with other artists for a while now and figured what better reason than for a good cause. Still working out the details but let me know if you're interested. ______________________________ Want to support another good cause? You can now find these super limited editions of Gerbera Designs' covers over at Copacetique! Some more cute things at one of my favorite shops: I had the distinct joy of shopping for a bathing suit yesterday. Right up there with shopping for jeans. Jim and I got Cool Hand Luke in the mail last week. Mmm, Paul Newman. We spent the entire weekend calling each other "Boss" and saying "What we've got here is a failure to communicate." Good movie. We also finally watched Murderball a couple days ago. That is an intense sport. Pretty good documentary. Escape from Alcatraz is waiting for us at home. Friday, June 09, 2006![]() Glass artwork by Dale Chihuly at the Spencer Theater in Ruidoso NM. ____________________________ Off to Ruidoso to help Jim shoot the Ruidoso Dance Conservatory and enjoy the clean mountain air. Have a great weekend! Thursday, June 08, 2006![]() With the amount of vases I have, you'd think Jim gives me flowers every other day. Such is definitely not the case. I found this cute vintage glass at Savers the other day and couldn't pass it up. I'm going to pick up some daisies the next time I'm out to put in it! ___________________________ Finally ordered some postcards to send out to possible stores about working with Gerbera Designs. It's been on my To Do list for a while now and since I've hit a bit of a slow run right now, finally found the time to work on them. It never stops when you own a small business, huh? There's always something you should be working on. ___________________________ Oooo, my arms are nice and sore from Pilates. Totally different workout than the kickboxing class I teach. I love working out barefoot, I hate shoes. Wednesday, June 07, 2006![]() I woke up this morning and for some reason, the color green was everywhere. Not that I mind, I like green. Actually, I like all the colors. Remember back in school when your friends would ask you what your favorite color was? I was always that kid that couldn't decide. I've always liked them all. What can I say, I'm an equal opportunity colorist. ___________________________ In case you're curious, the images above are: 1. My book worm keychain 2. Vintage curtains 3. NEW vacuum! 4. Earrings 5. Handmade bowl 6. Vase I bought yesterday for 5 bucks ___________________________ I've started doing Pilates last Monday and agh, I'm sore! Friday, June 02, 20061 commentsThursday, June 01, 2006![]() Ok, so I'm really bad with plants. I want to be good with them but they hate me. I don't know why. I love having plants in the house but out of the five that I bought last year, only two survived and just by looking at them, you know they're on their last legs. I think I'm a chronic overwater-er. But I'm not going to give up. My latest victim...er, I mean plant experiement is a small cactus garden that will greet guests at the front door. Who kills cactus, right? I mean, you really have to try to kill a cactus. Unless I overwater them. Decided to add small (1.5 inches tall) Hansel and Gretel figurines to the garden. Aren't they cute?! Maybe they'll help me keep these plants alive!
