I’m a huge fan of all the beautiful washi tape out there but a lot of the time, I find myself just hoarding it instead of actually using it. I wanted to figure out a way to make some sort of washi tape wall art without too much hassle or expense!
I also wanted to maintain the translucency of the tape. I know I could have just stuck the washi tape to white paper and then cut it out but I wanted the “look” of washi tape, which, for me, means it has to be translucent. I was more nervous cutting out this project than I was when I cut out my Montessori Sandpaper Letters! I didn’t want to waste all that beautiful washi tape if this project didn’t pan out…luckily it worked on the first try!
I used my Silhouette Cameo to easily cut out the words but you could definitely do this project with some patience and a sharp craft knife. The Clear Sticker Paper is pretty thick but allows you to place your work of art almost anywhere! I love the idea of using this tutorial to make decals for a kid’s room. A Washi Tape Millennium Falcon? Yes, please!
Washi Tape Stickers
1. Cover one sheet of the Silhouette Clear Sticker Paper completely in washi tape.
2. Cut out shape or words with either a cutting machine (Cameo Settings: 1, 33, 6) or by hand with a craft knife.
3. Remove the backing from the letters and stick in place.
4. Repeat until entire saying or image is positioned correctly and enjoy!
I decided to hang my art in one of my favorite places…my craft nook! Where would you hang yours?
